As others said, back in the day we lived in Syndicate and were part of OSS. We fought BRUCE there for quite a while, but eventually they manage to amass enough hundreds of pilots to completely blob the whole region and after the "capital show" that they did one night, jumping ~20-25 capitals in the "main Syndicate system", OSS capitulated. We then had no choice but to retreat... the problem was that we had no where to go, mainly because we didn't want to live close to any of the major forces - we wanted to keep as much autonomy as possible. Our limited numbers were a problem as well.
We saw Fountain as an interesting opportunity and forced by the rest we just moved in. At the time it was mainly occupated by the Hungarian guys of HUN. We had to fight there, without any support from anyone, but in anyway it was our only option. At some point Kumovi joined us and later on V.L.A.S.T as well(i believe it was after the HUNs left, but maybe i am wrong).
Eventually, some months later, we pushed the HUNs out and effectively claimed the region, or atleast the southern part of it.
So as you can see, the region was not just "given" to us, we fought it out of other people's hands.
I have been off EVE the last 1-2 months because of IRL stuff, so i missed the last war with BRUCE, but i know BRUCE and i find it ridiculous that people are going "SoT couldn't do it alone, blah blah". Dispatching BRUCE is no easy task, their sheer numbers and economical power(when you have hundreds of pilots ratting and missioning 24/7 in secure regions you must be stuffed with cash) are times larger than ours.
Also, we have been friends with PL since... forever. So there was no "NAPwagon jumping".
Otherwise, we do love to fight, everyone that has actually fought us can confirm it. We don't stay docked, unless we are blobbed to hell - we love to fight but we are not that stupid to jump into a sure-death-situation. Only Vlada does that :D (hail Vlada o7 )
